P: This morning we looked up the following location:
Furnished ground floor 2 bedroom apartment in chalet on beautiful land amidst vineyards in Challex, France
New 30 square meter great room with high ceilings and floor heating, 4 skylights. Two bedrooms (one small). Oil heat in kitchen and large bedroom. (78m2 total)
On large piece of land with pond and many trees. Good for small children and someone who likes to garden. Very peaceful. Fully fenced yard with 9 month old berger de podhale sheepdog.

We looked at the Challex place this morning, BUT what I thought would be a cute little 9 month old "puppy" turned out to be a HUGE Polish Tatra Sheepdog that jumps over the fence they built for him and is very protetctive, which is good, because of the ROMANIAN GANGS (P: "cat burglars", she also called them) that roam the area. I'm not kidding. That's one of the first things the landlady told us. She proudly pointed out the curly iron framework she had just installed over the kitchen window. She pointed out the deadbolt on the door too. "Between Ponita (the dog) and the bars, this is the safest place in the area." She said. Too bad we can't screen out mosquitos yet! Truly not completely safe in my opinion.
What good would the breath-taking view of the Juras and quaint scene of Geneva (complete with Jet d'Eau) be with Ponita barking, bounding over the fence...and us needing to referee between Benjamin and Ponita at all times? If anyone came to visit, we were told, there was a way to introduce the "stranger" to Ponita (hand the leash to the stranger. Did you say "leash"? As in, we'd be co-parenting this white hound with our new landlady?) She was a nice enough lady - from St. Louis Park, MN no less, but working in the Congo 52 days last year, well, we'd be on our own at times. Just us, Ponita, the Juras and... the Romanian gangs.

You didn't think that anyone was reading these did you?! Well, surprise, surprise! Laila and I have been reading every one and praying for your success. I am sure you have been busy with looking for new places to rent. Good thing you found such a safe and secure place!!!
Laila has been up to quite a bit lately. She helped out her brother with their annual Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless. Laila took all kinds of clothing donations and sent them to her brother and sister in law. They sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless every year, I believe the location is in New Jersey. The help Laila received was amazing and it was a big success. I included the email from her sister-in-law after it was over. There is a link if you want to see the pictures they posted online.
